Contouring Overview
ProKnow DS allows you to use a distributed workforce for contouring so that people located anywhere can focus on their assigned anatomical structures. Contouring with ProKnow DS is useful in many different use cases:
- Creating new structure sets for prospective contouring, upstream of treatment plan optimization
- Adding and editing structure sets retrospectively to facilitate clinical trials where the original contours may have been incomplete or inaccurate
- Contouring on 3D IGRT per-fraction image sets (CBCT, onboard MR, etc.) for convenient offline adaptive analyses of volumes that change from fraction to fraction
- Merging multiple Structure Sets
ProKnow preserves all versions of saved structure sets, which eliminates the risk of losing hours of contouring work due to human or software errors, a problem that is not uncommon when using conventional software systems.
You can define structure set templates that hold the structure names, types, and colors for different body sites and/or protocols. You can then create new structure sets in ProKnow that will use this template as a starting point for your manual or automated contouring, achieving standardization of structure nomenclature and colors in the process.
